First, a MAJOR apology. I’ve been super busy with this thing called life, and have been unable to update my dreadlock process. But alas! I have made a commitment to commit more posts.

After a quick review of my previous dreadlock post, I think I’m ready to continue the timeline. So, at eight to nine weeks, I blunted my tips. Looking back, I wish I would have waited another month or two more before doing it. Why? I may have knotted the ends too well. Also, it seems some dreadlocks are losing hair to other locks, and some locks have been coupled with other locks purposefully. WOW! A lot has happened!

When I maintain my locks, I like to separate them and try to work on a lock at a time. If I notice hair from another lock tangling in with the lock I’m working on, I try to pull the hair out intact (without breaking it) to give it back to it’s rightful lock. Loose hairs are rolled, and worked back into the proper lock.

A few of the locks I had were, well, too thin. Especially the ones near my temple, in front of my ears. So, I married those locks with the lock next door, and have a much thicker set of locks coming in near those places.

So, what’s the future of my locks? Well, at the time of this post, I’m trying to leave them alone as much as possible, especially at the roots. I only maintain them for loose hair, keeping them looking good, but I’m not using any tools at the roots. Still palm rolling like mad.

Today I received an order in the mail of scissors that I had ordered a week or so ago. Upon opening the box, I quickly realized the scissors where not the correct type that I had ordered. I checked the website to confirm my suspicions, and surfed to their contact page to give them a call. After explaining my situation, the very polite customer service rep told me to keep my order, and they would send out a new order without charge.

Wait.

You don’t want me to send them back? You don’t want me to actually confirm that I got the wrong item? Your just going to send me the correct items, on good faith?

AWESOME!

The company in this story is REAL, and in times like these, haven’t forgotten what’s important. Nasco. The have earned my business, and if your ever in the need for school supplies, farm and ranch products, art materials, health care trainers, educational and teacher resources, or senior care items, they should get your business, too.

I made a mental pact with myself – before starting this weblot for the [insert number here] time – that I wouldn’t write from the development side of my life. I won’t write from the development side of my life.. I WON’T WRITE FROM THE DEVELOPMENT SIDE OF MY LIFE!!!

If you’ve been to my web site before, you’ll know I’ve used the same theme since it’s <del datetime="2011-09-14T01:42:54+00:00">1st</del> <del datetime="2011-09-14T01:42:54+00:00">2nd</del> <del datetime="2011-09-14T01:42:54+00:00">3rd</del> 4th launch. I used the Minimal theme from ElegantThemes – and it suited me well. After all, this is just a personal blog – I don’t need to to do anything too fancy (enter canvas)…

I made the leap to WooThemes a few months back (don’t worry team ET, I’m still a subscriber) and have really started to like their framework. I’m still a WooTot (ˈwü -tät n. – a newbie to the WooThemes community). I’m seeing the extensibility of their Canvas theme, and have started using it a lot; to get to know it better, figure out it’s strengths – and limitations.

As such, TravisHill.org is now run by a child theme of Canvas.

Full Speed Ahead!

OK, so I know the title is a little deceiving. Twitter isn’t directly tweeting the spam on my account, but someone sure is. And it’s annoying. I have to check my account daily to make sure these links are dealt with properly, usually a quick delete of the tweet. A few applications have access to my account, but I trust those applications:

TravisHill.org
TweetDeck
LinkedIn
HTC

Update: I’ve revoked access from several applications to my account, including LinkedIn, Mobile Web, Tweetdeck, & HTC Peep. Let’s see if one of these are guilty of posting the spam.

Another step I’ve taken to combat this annoyance is to lock my twitter account. This really seems to slow it down, and keeps the floods of “followers” at bay. I have no problem locking my personal account, as I only want peeps I know following me anyway.
